TECHNICAL WRITER

 

Job Objective:

 

Technical documentation, creating/designing cata¬logues and brochures giving technical information about a sector - software or hardware, finance, biotechnology aviation, etc - is called technical writing

 

Skills Required:

 

• Strong verbal and written communication skills. a penchant for writing, an eye for detail
• Basic to expert level language editing skills
• Basic lo expert level formatting and designing skills
• Basic to expert level skills on authoring and design software (Lotus Symphony. MS Office, Adobe Technical Communication Suite, etc)

• Content Management tools (File Net, author IT, Documentum, etc)
• Basic to expert level programming language skills like C, C++, Java

 

Field Of Study:

 

• You can be a graduate in humanities, or engineering.
• Some organizations prefer a mass communication or literature background.
• Today, candidates with knowl¬edge of content management tools, specific program¬ming languages and applications are more likely to land jobs as technical writers

 

Possible Institutes:

 

You can do a course in technical writing from a private Institute. Graduate, Post-Graduate and PhD programmes can be done in the US, Canada, Australia.

Expected Pay:

 

Remuneration varies across industry and is quite com¬petitive with other professions.
Entry Level: Rs 10.000 to Rs 16,000 per month.
Middle Level (5-9 years of experience): Rs 30,000 to Rs 45,000 per month
Higher Level: With more experience sky is the limit
