The joy of creating something new often turns euphoric when others find its content not only useful but also life-changing. Very few works pass this tough test. As we started research on this project, we realized that we have embarked on a journey that many have abandoned mid-way. There are too many imponderables in career research; too many theories and above all the urge among us to 'know the unknown' and succeed in reaching the top. Years spent in watching people and measuring different aspects of their profession gave us the confidence to speak to you, and now it is in your hand.

 

SANJAY ROY CHOWDHURY loves watching people and nature mostly through the lens of his camera. When he has time, he also wears the hat of the Managing Director at Gray Matters Consulting. His love for coins and seeing distant lands have been with him since his days at Presidency College and XLRI, Jamshedpur. Sanjay loves art. He further encouraged his designing bug while making presentations as the Associate Director of Ernst & Young, Human Capital practice, for close to a decade. As he faces tough questions in the Career Counseling column in a leading newspaper, his HR domain now includes studies of child behaviour and student career direction

DEBKUMAR MITRA is a Sunday painter, mathematics major, and a consultant reference editor for Penguin Books, India. Starting his career as a researcher in mathematical biology, Debkumar soon discovered that he had too many other things on his mind. To pen down his thoughts, he took up journalism with the Statesman, and then with The Telegraph for over a decade. A University of Toronto Gordon M. Fisher Fellow, Debkumar rediscovered his love for mathematics while writing the puzzles column ‘Brainstorming’ that ultimately gave birth to the book 'Mindstretch’. Taking a sabbatical from his stamp collecting, he led a research team to create the Penguin Year Book 2005-2009, and Penguin Business Yearbook. When he has time off; he dabbles in mathematics and creative solutions for the education sector.
